What gets recorded and who can see it

Not every live session becomes an available recording: an Arena's default publishes no replay, and in a Cast the decision about your recording is yours and is kept on record.

Arena: it depends on the visibility chosen when the room was opened

An Arena replay only exists for PUBLIC rooms. Social and private rooms publish no replay, publish no clips and are not indexed โ€” and social is the default visibility, the one recommended when you open a room.

The visibility is frozen into the episode at the moment it is scheduled. Editing the format afterwards does not retroactively publish a replay the participants did not agree to.

The rule is enforced on the server, not on the screen

If the room was not public, the server delivers neither the recording's address nor the signed link to play it. The lock is not the interface hiding the button: it is the file not leaving.

When the system cannot read with certainty what the visibility was, it treats it as not publishable. When in doubt, nothing is published.

Cast: the decision about your recording is yours

After a Cast episode, you choose between public, private and removed for your recording. There is no default: the system refuses to assume a choice for you, because assuming "public" for someone who would have chosen "removed" would be the worst possible mistake.

Every change to that choice goes into a trail that is not rewritten โ€” the history of what you decided, and when, remains.

If you want to delete, and not just unpublish

There are two separate actions after a Cast: exporting your data from that episode, and deleting the Cast data by revoking the consents. They are different from changing the recording's visibility.

What a replay does not have

A replay brings the recording and, when they exist, the clips. It brings no chapter list and no view count โ€” that data does not exist, and the screen prefers to show nothing rather than invent a number.
